Jack Russells and Staffs both have the same problem; if they are not properly socialised with other dogs at an early age then they are socially inept as adults. Hence the myth that staffies don't get on with other dogs.
If you get a staffy pup at 8 weeks of age that is the opposite sex to your dog, and if you have 20 years experience with terriers, I honestly don't think you'll have any problems you can't handle.
As long as you are boss over your dog, s/he will accept any other animal you introduce. Give them seperate beds, don't force your dog to share. If they choose to, thats great.
I'm jealous, we lost our old Jack a while ago and I'm not in a position to get another dog yet!

Before you worry about breeds, first let me ask if your Jack Russell is a girl or a boy? If it's male, you must not get another male as they can fight and it can be very unpleasant. I suggest that if you get an additional pup, it should be a girl.
It also concerns me that you would get such a big breed, as a Jack Russell might get used as the pup's punching bag as she grows up.
Having said that, this is entirely dependent on you and the dog's temperament.
Most important thing is never to have 2 males....
Good luck.

They should get on, if your jack russell gets on with other dogs then i don't think it should be a problem, I have a Jack Russell and she gets on with everything and the staffie with it being a pup will get used to it and they should get along. i suppose it would be a different story if it was an adult staffie.

Staffs are great with people/kids but not very good with other dogs, generally. I'm no expert but be careful.
Saying that, my friend had an alsatian (an old one) then got a Staff pup. I think they got on but still be careful. Don't forget, with 2 dogs, one has to be the boss. If your JR is the boss and the Staff doesn't like it, just think on how powerful their jaws are. I wouldn't want your JR to suffer.

get along or get it on? haha....
Staffies can be difficult living with other dogs in general, so be sure to chose the right dog and make sure they are fine before adopting. I wouldn't leave multiple dogs unsupervised alone since they have a high-prey drive.

no reason why not, if they r both puppies then they should be ok as they will be growing up together. i think the only time u would have a problem is if they were both older dogs as one would want to b boss then the arguements between them would probably really start!

staffie's aren't well known for getting on with other dogs, but if you introduce them early enough I'm sure you'll have no problems.
