you could have a bench warrant placed for your arrest, I would show up if I was you, you know you don't have to incriminate yourself though don't you? just be truthful, answer what they ask and you should be fine, if you don't know, say so.

yes it is true - depending on the type of case you can be arrested and fined - and the fines can be substantial because they alloted you time and they have to pay the court fees and the judge and everyone else for the time you were supposed to be there - a lot of judges especially if they are having a bad day will give you a fine and a days in jail for wasting the courts time & money!! oh and they dont say you will go to jail next week - they lock you up immediatly - no time to call your boss & get off work - you just go

First you are not "selected" as a witness you are given a supena to appear, you will be held in contempt of court and fined.

Plus who ever you were to be the witness for may loose thier case and could perhaps have a civil case against you.

You probably go to jail for contempt of court. Have fun. The paper says you must show that means you were served and advised.

Best advise show up or get to know Bubba real well.

It is very true. If you do not appear, you will suffer the consequences, whether they are a fine or imprisonment - that kind of depends on the severity of the trial in the first place. Somewhat similar to failure to appear as a juror as shown in the attached link.

If they summon you, yes you do have to go to court. They can fine you and hold you in contempt. Screwed up country, I know, that's why unless the case itself is important to you, don't get involved!
