The sweat pants will not really help you to burn calories when you walk, but I still recommend wearing them. Sweat pants will help your legs to warm up as you are walking, and warm legs are important to avoid injury. Sweating does not help you to lose weight, since all you lose is water.

Sweat pants, in my opinion, are useful in cold weather. They'll make you sweat more and possible you'll burn more calories because your body will have to work harder to cool itself down. However, the benefit is probably fairly nominal at best. Any weight lost while doing this would probably be accounted for as water weight and you'll regain it after you rehydrate.

In addition, wearing sweatpants while working out, you'll find that you'll get tired easier and are more likely to quit your workout due to heat issues than stick with it. Therefore, you'll burn less calories and have a less thorough workout.

Good luck.

That might not help you lose any weight, but you will get healthier by sweating out the bad stuff in your body and skin.
