in canada, we used to simply bring them back to the liquor store to recycle and get some change back - is there a place in seattle/redmond that will do the same?

I believe Oregon and California have bottle deposits/refunds, but the good folks of Washington do not. We do however, recycle most paper, glass, aluminum and some plastic through mandatory curbside bins in many towns (not statewide).

no, but you can recycle. The cost of deposit/return on bottles is astronomical. Recycling is the best way to sauve your conscience on what you might be doing to mother earth when you toss your beer bottles out after a party.
