First of all do not hit her. The dog doesn't understand what u want from her so give her toys that she can chew on and praise her for doing that. When she starts 2 bite/chew on something that isn't hers than say "NO" in a frim voice and replace what she is chewing on with one of her toys and than praise her for chewing on "HER" toys. She will get it also she is still a young puppy and likes 2 chew a lot. Just keep up with her and u will have a good dog. Training helps 2! Good Luck!

Biting and mouthing is normal for puppies. Dogs don't have hands so they investigate objects and their environment with their mouths.

You can almost hear his thought processes as he discovers something he's never seen before: "Hmmmm.. what's this? [chomping on it] Something to eat? No? [tossing it around] Can I make it squeak?"

There are certain times when the puppy does most of it's nipping - when playing with toys, when it has not been exercised in a while or when it's glad to be reunited with you, most likely.

At these times, simply keep your fingers away from the dog's mouth! Take the dog outside to burn off some energy and/or simply don't pet and stroke your dog when it is already over-stimulated. Often, nipping is a way for the puppy to tell you that it's anxious about something - that you will take it's toys away or that you will leave it alone again, most likely.

Puppies chew. It's what they do. try to offer him a lot of chew toys. And if he is chewing the couch or things like that then buy Bitter Apple spray and spray the couch. It has a sour taste and tries to divert them from chewing on it.

Also never hit a dog. If your family continues this this dog could grow up to have many problems.

If they want to "punish" him, tell them to give him a time out by placing him in the bathroom or his crate for 15 minutes or so.

This may help him to understand everytime he chews something he is going to punished by not getting to play or be around people.

I had a puppie like that once. She lived to the ripe old age of 16. The first thing I did was buy her allot of chewing bones. Never give chicken bones. Lots of rubber toys and allot of attention. Even when she stopped chewing and biting she started again when we moved to a new house. I basically one day left the house with her thinking I left and than snuck back home with a small water pistol filled with water. I caught her in the act of starting to chew plants in the garden. I sprayed her with the water pistol and told her that she was bad and she stopped. I can´t say it might work but it can´t hurt except to startle your pet to stop.

Good luck

this too shall pass. At 3 months many pups are nippy. A LIGHT tap under the chin & a "no bite' is usually acceptible disapline. Or better yet stuff a sock in it- seriously give her knotted sock or a toy to hold when you try to cuddle. If she trys to nip just put the toy back in her mouth.

i've heard Bitter Apple Spray works real good. what i did with my dogs that was in their bitting stage was use my finger and tab on their mouth and say NO to them firmly. your puppy is teething so she will wanna bite anything she gets her mouths on. get her save chew toys. dogs are just like human, they lose their baby teeth and get adult teeths. babys bite when they are about to lose their baby teeth too. so be patient with her, you can also bring her to trainning classes at PetSmart, they will teach you everything you need to know about dog training.

Good Luck

you could go to your local pet store and ask them what they think would be best.
But I have a Bitter Apple Spray..You're supposed to spray it on whatever they normally bite on..but the catch is..it can discolor furniture..ut thyis is an old bottle, maybe they have new products tht are safe for furniture.

DON'T HIT THE PUPPY! She is at the stage where they like to bite things. It will soon pass. If it doesn't, take her to a class.
