Once you are logged on Yahoo Messenger, you will see four menu item in top tool bar "Messenger, Contacts, Actions, Help"
Click on Messenger, you will see sub menus look for Yahoo Chat there. Once you click that you will see Sub-sub menu item Join room, you will see different categories. You can select the room there and join and on Go to room, you will be able to chat in that particular room.
You can have your favorites groups which you can access under Yahoo Chat - Favorites. Then you can directly go to that room through favorites.

click on messenger and then click yahoo chat and join a room.
