Heres one we did...a slave auction to business owners.
First had a dinner invited business owners and auctioned off the youth for a day. The youth can work for the business, learned and in some cases might be inspirational to others.
Another: a silent auction:
Youth go around to business and get a dona -table gift. After collecting the gifts , have a silent auction. You can collaborate a BBQ with either of these and get double the funds.

Try having a big yard sale where many of the congregation or parish donate the items to be sold and all proceeds going to the fundraising. Try getting donations and purchase a few good quality items and have a raffle. Or try a barbeque and get some stores to donate the food and charge x amount of dollars for a plate..all proceeds going to the fund raiser. These are all tried and true methods. Do a yard sale. People can bring their unused items and whatever you sell, you can use towards the goal you have. Do plenty of advertising through your church and the community.

hmm...well, we do chicken BBQ's, sub sales, and car washes, but I'm not sure how to involve people outside the church, pray about it

You should fast and pray first and second do not ask unbelievers to support Gods work. God's people should support his work, there is no shortage of rich christians.. and when God asks them to give, they do.

Sell beer, drugs and sex. You might throw in some violence in some form.
