Actually, dark hair looks really good on people with light eyes. It both enhances eyes, and skin tone. I'm pale, I don't have freckles, but I have light silver-blue eyes and my natural hair color is a light brown/mousey blonde color. When I dyed my hair Deep Brown from Revlon it looked black when it was wet, but when your hair is dark and wet, it looks a lot darker then natural. Do you remember when your hair was brown, and you'd get out of the shower - it would look darker brown?

My hair dried a dark brown, and looked wonderful. All my friends said it looked great, and made my silver-blue eyes and pale skin look really nice.

Thats just my own personal experience though!

The color of the dye is always deeper and darker than what it will show up as. Remember your have lighter hair so it will not turn out black. It will turn out a darker brown. Depending on how dark you want it will determine how long you keep the dye on your hair. If you don't want it too dark, then don't leave it on any longer than the box recommends.

Of course it looks darker when it's wet. Your hair may have grabbed too much pigmentation however and the colour is always going to be darker on hair than it is on the box.
I have done this before and I find the colour usually lightens up with washing. One thing you can do is to wash your hair with shampoo and a bit of 30% peroxide. Simply shampoo it in to wet hair and let it sit about 10 minutes.(wear gloves)
This might help you lighten up.
By the way, with your eye colour you may be able to get away with the darker brown colour but only you can judge. As mentioned above, darker hair can be worn by younger women but it can look too harsh on an older one.

hair looks darker when it is wet. if it is still too dark after it dries, just remember that it will lighten the more you wash it. and if that doesn't help. wait a week and buy a home stripping kit. you can strip all of the color out then re-dye it the color you want. but make sure to use lots of condition, and wait a while bewteen each process so that yyou don't damage your hair.

It will probably lighten up some when it's dry, but after about a week of washing, it seems to always lighten a lot...I colored mine last weekend (med brown is my natural color...colored to a darker brown), and now it already looks pretty much like my natural hair color.

Most of the time your hair looks darker when it is wet. I think that dark brown hair and blue eyes look real good, like tiffany-amber thiessen

No it wont look black most likely after you dry your hair. Ever see blonde people go swimming? There hair looks dark, almost brown all over then when their hair dries it turns blonde again.

It will never be the EXACT color it is on the box, but once you dry it it will look better. If it still doesn't look better after you dry it, then wash and dry your hair again.

Actually, wet hair looks darker when wet, so maybe you can blow dry it or let it dry in order to see the actual color.
