I always felt that dinner time was family time, when we all came to the table with the TV off and just talked. That was always the time to find out how there day went at school, was there problems that need to be addressed, and etc. It worked great for my family.

I'm not a parent, but I think while it is probably "normal" behavior (as in, common) I don't think it is the best way to raise a child.. I guess it's the same as some families who eat in front of the TV, but that isn't the way it worked when I was growing up and I don't think it should change now. Families should eat together at the dinner table.

It is normal to eat dinner at the table like civilized people do. It is normal to conversate while eating dinner about the days activities. That computer is not going any where. They should not even be allowed to drink around it. Something spills, it got to get replaced. Who normally does the replacing or buying? Parents.

No my daughter always eats at a table either the kitchen table or the coffee table in the living room but never at the computer. You know how much stuff they can mess up if they spill something. Not only that it's not good for someone to be at a computer all the time.

i don't think so, haven't they seen the get around the table commercials, it sets a unhealthy eating patter en and shows that the child might have a unhealthy habit when it comes to the computer. Dinner for families is the most important meal, the one where everyone is supposed to sit and share their day and communicate. Even though times has change that is one thing that family shouldn't get away from, considering times are in many ways changing for the worse

For our family, dinner time is the get together of the day. We talk and catch up on each other's lives and i think this is very important in today's busy society. Doing so has helped keep tabs on our kids, and strengthen relationships. I personally wouldn't allow my children to eat dinner at the computer. Not only are you not spending time with your family, they could lose control of how much they are eating.

My kids are not old enough to be on the computer, but when they are they still will eat at the dinner table. It seems like the only time we have together is the dinner table anymore!!

NO WAY! NOT AT MY HOUSE!!
My kids have a time when to get in the computer but DEFENETLY not during dinner time. That time is the best time to talk about anything and eat as a family. This should the time for everyone to come togather.
