when there are immigrants from other places that are here illegaly too?

Why is the focus on the illegal immigrants from Mexico?

I'm undecided on the immigration bill thing, but I just wondered about this.

The good thing about being an American, is that I can wonder about things like this, I don't even have to like it, and I never have to 'get out' as someone so kindly suggested.

Maybe they are the majority, and maybe they are calling attention to themselves, but the fact remains that they are not the only immigrants here.

'they don't believe in birth control or abortion'
How do we know that?

Probably because of the big rallies they had put them in the spot light. And they do make up the largest percentage of illegals.

However, I myself do not forget about the others sneaking in and when I write my representatives I make sure that I am referring to all illegals. We cannot have a policy for just one group, it must take into account all of them because we have more than just Mexicans sneaking into this country. We should not forget the asian sweat shops on the west coast for example.

I see a lot of focus on the Mexican border, but we cannot forget that Canada is up there and we do get some sneaking in from there. We have two big coast lines and we have some smuggled in by ship on both coast. Maby not as many as we get from our southern border, but they do come in by those venues.

The Mexicans might be the focus on the topic boards and mass media, but not everyone forgets that there is more involved in the debate.

We are worried about illegal immigrants from everywhere. Some people seem to blur the lines on both sides of the question, because most of the illegal immigrants are from Mexico, and those had the highest profile in the recent marches.

Illegal immigrants create an even greater drain on services such as education when their children don't speak English when the enter schools. Accordingly, illegal immigrants with a language barrier are the ones that bother me, personally, most.

My biggest issue is with the schools. Education has really failed where illegal immigrants concentrate. The huge influx of legal immigration in the future under the Senate Bill would have the same impact, and the employers would still not be paying for this impact. This is not the amnesty issue, it is the increase in legal immigration without study as to its impact on already overburdened schools.

You are an intelligent person, the others are just plain ignorant who only focus on Mexicans.

Not only that, I have commented on several immigration questions here, that most people who are irate about the Mexican illegals are totally unaware of the 1986 Act of Congress that allowed for illegals to prove continuous residency since 1982, thereby allowing them to be LEGAL. Many immigrants from Mexico came years ago, not recently, so they qualify under that Act of Congress and are legally in this country.

Too bad the ignorant people who claim to be Americans don't know what their own Congress has done.

The focus is more on Mexican illegals because they are the ones who have been the loudest recently (i.e. May 1) and they brought the spotlight on themselves. Also, just by the fact that they are the largest number of illegals in the USA. Really, the American citizens want ALL illegals out of the country - equally.

thank god! finally someone that thinks!!!
thank you so much, you make me feel a lot better. as a mexican I've been reading stupid questions/comments where people insult mexicans and they dont even think that there's people from Honduras, Guatemala, Venezuela, etc etc. it really bothers me and sometimes hurt me because they talk so much crap about mexicans when to be honest I don't believe we are bad people. I'm not living here illegaly but I at the moment I'm staying in the states (do have my permit) but i still cross the border everyday to go to work in my dear Mexico. I feel bad for all the people that cant find a decent job to stay in their countries. me in the other hand dont have a great job but I do love it and i make good money, i cant complain. when i cross the border sometimes they are rude and ask what I'm going to do in the states and they make me feel like a criminal. you should see the faces of some customs agents. Not all the people cross the border to go to work to mcdonalds or to pick up veggies! but they just see "brown" skin and freak out.

Sad but true fact, is that the majority of them do come from Mexico. Also true is the fact that since they do look alot like the others from South American countries, many people throw them in with the Mexicans. Either way, all of the illegals should be deported.

Because of the FACT that the MAJORITY of illegals are coming from MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because of the FACT that we already HAVE 11-20 MILLION illegals in this country!! Because of the FACT that THESE are the people who are living off welfare, and driving down WAGES for everyone ELSE!! Because of the FACT, that these OTHER immigrants are NOT out marching, while carrying a FOREIGN flag on U.S. soil, and DEMANDING to be given "rights'!!!

We do NOT have MILLIONS of illegals SNEAKING IN from China,or Canada, or ANYPLACE ELSE, except for MEXICO!!!!!! And the people on here who are calling others "RACIST", is because they have NO OTHER defense for the CRIMINAL actions of illegals!!!

Probably because it's easiest for illegals to come to America since they can just hop the border. Other countries aren't right next to us like Mexico is and you don't see many Canadians hopping their border. Besides the fact that we have so many Mexicans in America already that it's evident that we have a problem.

Most Americans are concerned with illegals period. It doesn't matter where they are from. But..special attention goes to illegals from Mexico because most of the supporters of illegals truly only support illegals from Mexico. They actually try to defend this illegal behavior.

I dont. But those that do, I believe, do so because the majority of Mexicans are not white (they of course, will deny this) and because they speak a different language. People ask why they tend to hold onto their heritage and not "assimilate" and it is because they are not treated nicely, or fear they will not be, by citizens of the US. So they stay with the people that will treat them nicely....their own people. No one should have to assimilate.
