Admittedly, the problem has been going on for a long time, but most of America was oblivious to it. So WHY would they do this? Put the Mexican flag above the American flag, demand the same rights as legal citizens, etc.? It seems as though they are TRYING to turn more Americans against them by rubbing the fact that they have been breaking the law for YEARS with no consequence in the faces of the American people! Many people who didn't care about the issue one way or the other now want them deported after witnessing their insulting display on May 1st. Don't they realize they are defeating their own prurpose? Are they really that stupid?

I can not believe American citizens have no problem with illegal immigrants marching through American streets with the Mexican flag flying ABOVE the American flag. If they love Mexico so much and and are so proud of their heritage, why are they here? Why don't they fix their own beloved country? If you are going to live in America and demand the rights of an American, your loyaly should be with America. Period.

happy girl, I don't condone violence of any kind. I don't think the illegal immigrants should be harmed in any way. I don't think they should go to jail. I think they should go HOME.

chikis, also, read this:
Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:
* Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
* Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
* Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;
has committed a federal crime.
Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.
Now, who's stupid again?

It was really stupid and started a major backlash that cuts across parties.
However, I don't think it was organized by the pro-illegal immigrants. I think it was organized by the far leftist groups with foreign ties who want open borders so the poor of the world can take over the assets of the richer countries, over time. Look into it, and form your own opinion.
As an attempt to sway immigration policy, it certainly was the wrong way to go. Prior to the marches far more people polled as being ok with illegal immigrants staying so long as illegal immigration was addressed going forward. Since then people have looked at statistics and have examined criminal rates and funding for illegal immigrants and have become more polarized.

Simple. The day, May 1st (note that they chose this instead of something more mexican like Cinco de Mayo) has meaning to communists the world over. The people organizing the events are all communists (International ANSWER for example is a front for the World Worker Party....a rabidly communist organization) and the people participating in them aren't really celebrating the fact that they are mexican but are trying to rally support for a communist take over of our country. This is an appeal to the large number of people within our own country who hate democracy and everything else america stands for. That is very much the point of abusive immigration in this country. These people are in a minority and want to import large numbers of like minded people from the third world. They hope that with sufficient numbers, they can overthrow our government. Foolishly, they believe that they have sufficient support that they can be out in the open about this.
Nobody is saying it yet but the anti-immigration sentiment in this country is a direct response to this. Most people understand that illegal immigration is a VERY bad thing that needs to be stopped NOW. But many people are waking up to the fact that legal immigration is also a bad thing.....because of the sinister motives of the people who are coming here. Soon, they will no longer be able to hide this from people. Their smoke screen of lies and bullshit is breaking down and has been since Bush got into office. These people are desperate and stupid (as well as evil), they are making their move too early....way too early.

There are many people who do not consider it to be a criminal act. They are not defeating their own purpose. They are fighting for rights, just as many other groups have done. Not only illegal immigrants participated in the "insulting display". Many legal immigrants and many people who were born and raised in the United States also participated.
In response to DAR's response, it's not better for them to remain hiding and get crummy jobs below minimum wage. That's not what they came to this country for. Most of the people who live in this country are either immigrants themselves or descended from immigrants. The people on the Mayflower were immigrants....and was it legal then? And don't say that there wasn't a country here then, because there were many countries.

They feel "brave" enough to flaunt it in our faces BECAUSE there are SO MANY of them here now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But,what these IDIOTS did NOT realize with their little "protest marches" and ****, is that it woke a LOT of Americans UP to the fact of what was going on in this country!!!!!! Some people who had not really thought about this problem, who were not DIRECTLY involved in it,had NO CLUE what has been happening here for YEARS in the border states!!!!! And, the ILLEGALS carrying their UGLY mexican flag in OUR country, REALLY pissed a LOT of people off!!!!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER STUPID PERSON WHO THINKS THAT EVERY SINGLE ILLEGAL PERSON IN THE STATES IS MEXICAN. GET A FREAKING MAP, THERE ARE MORE COUNTRIES IN AMERICA! AND THEY ARE NOT CRIMINALS. CRIMINAL IS A PERSON WHO KILLS SOMEONE ELSE, A PERSON WHO RAPES A LITTLE GIRL, A PERSON WHO ROBS A BANK, illegals just break a law by enter this country without a visa, forgive them for trying to find a better way of life for their families. blame the stupid presidents of their countries for doing nothing to improve the situation instead of complaining about these people. think, if you were in their situation wouldnt you do the same? wouldnt you try at least to find a way to put food on your table for your children?

Your question seems one-sided.
First, you need to read the 1986 Act that Congress passed regarding immigration. It said that they would allow illegals to prove they resided in the country (continuously) since 1982 and be allowed to remain LEGALLY. Considering that the vast majority of illegals came many years ago, have established a life here, work, buy homes, are consumers, etc., that act allowed them to continue to be in this country just like you and I.
I would be pretty ticked off if I were them too, considering the government is literally taking back its word if it goes against this Act of Congress.

TO MadforMAC
IImmigration Reform and Control Act of November 6, 1986 (IRCA)
A one-year amnesty program for illegal aliens who had already worked and lived in the U.S. since January 1982 was established. Those eligible could apply for regularization of status and eventually full citizenship.
So, illegal immigrants of these days can not apply this law to themselves if they have failed to avail themselves of this amnesty 19 years ago. Those who were qualified then and processed their papers are already legalized at this time. It never indicated that because you can prove that you lived here "continuously" since 1982 you can stay here legally up to this date in 2006.
In fact, over 2.7 million illegal aliens and others not qualifying for visas were legalized under the 1986 IRCA amnesty. This piece of legislation is frequently cited by opponents of illegal immigration as a failure in that for each illegal alien amnestied under the plan, approximately four new ones have since replaced them. Hence, these critics point to the IRCA of 1986 as proof in their view that amnesty is not the solution for the large number of illegal aliens currently in the United States.

you got it right...they are pushy people and think americans are soft..read some of their posts about fat, lazy americans...
they just forgot one thing...we might be fat and lazy...but we are legal citizens and out socialist politicians better start listening to what we have to say or there will be a drastic change when we vote .....anti american politicians need to go....
illegals "just" break a law by entering this country illegaly...thats the freeking cultural mindset of mexicans...get rid of asll of them...and the legal ones that support them ...."just" stay out of my area..........
why cant they protest their own governments corruption and drug peddling...???? make a better life for yourself in mexico...if you asked our help doing that we would be behind you 100%....demanding rights when you have none aint gonna get any support from american citizens...
especially the lower income people whose jobs you are stealing ...the taxes you are making us pay for your housing, welfare, food stamps, hospitalization, and extra police and prison space for the criminals and diseases you are bringing here...
