Prepare your desert ahead of time on individual dishes and place your cool whip on top, wrap loosley with clear wrap and place in your refrigerater away from other foods. Place the rest of the cool whip container in the refrigerater. When you serve desert the cool whip will be soft and still cold.

microwave it on a medium setting for 20 seconds, check it and repeat if necessary til thawed. I do it all the time

NEVER NEVER NEVER zap it in the microwave! The container even for a very short time would release harmful gases into the cool whip!

Defrost in microwave for a bit or set in luke warm water for awhile.
