Satan the Devil
Definition: The spirit creature who is the chief adversary of God and of all who worship the true God. The name Satan was given to him because of his becoming a resister of Jehovah (God's name) or Yahweh/YHWH as the ancient Israelites called him). Satan is also known as the Devil, because he is the foremost slanderer of God. Satan is described as the original serpent, evidently because of his using a serpent in Eden to deceiver Eve, and for this reason "serpent" came to signify "deceiver." In the book of Revelation, the symbolism of a devouring dragon is also applied to Satan.
If I am correct in assuming, I believe his angelic name was Lucifer.
How can we know whether such a spirit person really exists?
The Bible is the chief source of evidence. There he is repeatedly refered to by name (Satan 52 times, Devil 33 times). Eyewitness testimony as to Satan's existence is recorded there. Who was the eyewitness? Jesus Christ, who lived in heaven before coming to earth, repeatedly spoke of that one by name. (Luke 22: 31, 10:18; Matt. 25: 41)
What the Bible says about Satan the Devil makes sense. The evil that mankind experiences is far out of proportion to the malice of the humans involved. The Bible's explanation of Satan's origin and his activities makes clear why, despite the desire of the majority to live in peace, mankind has been plagued with hatred, violence, and war for thousands of years and why this has reached such a level that it now threatens to destroy all mankind.
If there really were no Devil, accepting what the Bible says about him would not bring lasting benefits to a person. In many instances, however, persons who formerly dabbled in the occult or who belonged to groups practicing spiritism report that they were what that time greatly distressed because of hearing "voices" from unseen sources, being "possessed" by super human beings, etc. Genuine relief was gained when they learned what the Bible says about Satan and his demons, applied the Bible's counsel to shun spiritualistic practices, and sought Jehovah's help in prayer.
Believing that Satan exists does not mean accepting tha idea that he has horns, a pointed tail, and a pitchfork and that he roasts people in a fiery hell. The Bible gives no such description of Satan. That is the product of the minds of medieval artists who were influenced by representations of the mythological Greek god Pan and by the "Inferno" written the the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. Instead of teaching a fiery hell, the Bible clearly says that "the dead....are conscious of nothing at all." - Eccl. 9:5
From where did Satan come?
All of God's works are perfect; he is not the author of unrighteeiousness; so he did not create anyone wicked. (Deut. 32:4; Psalms 5:4) The one who became Satan was originally a perfect spirit son of God. When saying that the Devil "did not stand fast in the truth, " Jesus indicated that at one time that one was "in the truth." (John8:44) But, as is true of all God's intelligent creatures, this spirit son was endowed with free will. He abused his freedom of choice, allowed feelings of self-importance to develop in his heart, began to crave worship that belonged only to God and so enticed Adam and Eve to listen to him rather than obey God. Thus by his course of action he made himself Satan, which means "adversary". - James: 1:14, 15

well now he is just the devil but before he became the devil he was an angel named lucifer and he was like the highest angel and there was no hell or demons or any of that stuff and then lucifer became jealous of God and became satin and left heaven and created hell and some of the angels agreed with him and they became the demons and that is how the devil and hell got started. And now the angels and God and Jesus are battleing satin and his demons. Pretty scary, but if you love God and give your heart to him, you are protected.

Supernatural entities don't exist, but if you want the fairy tale version, the devil has many names including Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, the Great Deceiver, snake, Angel of Light (Lucifer).
According to the myth, God needed to torment his creations, so he told Satan, one of his eternal companions, a God himself, to take one third of the residents of heaven (wherever that is) with him and go to the earth.
Their purpose is to try to tempt people away from worshiping God the father, creator, almighty, etc. And, to accomplish that goal, they engage in many schemes and deceptions, the most successful of which was to inspire a book that told many truths, but contained a few lies.
The most notable of which is that God came to earth and killed himself. This deception caused billions of people to stop worshiping God the father and begin worshiping his "son," who is really the Great Deceiver.
His assistants ("angels") pretended to be disciples and they invented a church for people who refused to worship God the Father.
Satan's only purpose is to deceive people into worshiping anything other than God the father.
He has been quite successful due primarily to human vanity.
But, it is a myth, so it really doesn't matter. He doesn't exist.

There is no such thing as satan. The devil, satan and demons are constructs of early humans used to explain away things like disease, famine, pestilence and natural disasters before science evolved enough to explain them.
Evil was created by humans, out of the free will given to us by God. There is also no such physical place as hell. If you believe in hell you will experience it. Our beliefs are very powerful creators of our own reality.
