Any suggestions? Rose and flowers seem to be overdone. I am wondering if I should give any gifts since it is only the first date, or if I should just give something small but thoughtful. Any suggestions would be nice.

I would give her one single rose. I see your point as overdone, but to be honest it is the sweetest thing to do :)

Funny you should ask.Had my first date last night(first in a long time) The guy came over yesterday with 4 flowers. One said,"good morning" 2nd was "good afternoon" 3rd was good evening" and the 4th said "I've been waiting for this night all week." I thought that was a rather good ice breaker. It sure took all the nervousness away I'd been having all week. The very best of luck to you.

Personally I don't want anything on the first or second or third date. To me the first couple of dates is to get to know the person first before indulging in gifts for the person. If I get anything I get the ready this person might be clingy, needy, etc... But this is only my opinion. Every female is different.

i wouldnt give anything huge and valuable flowers are over used maybe if u wrote a small sweet poem... if u give an object the girl might not like it.. personally id feel trapped if someone did that..(kinda trapped in the relationship...)which would make me want to stop it all. so something small like a poem u wrote, or chocolate!

Sorry, I'm not a girl. Flowers buddy. Not to many though and have some variety in there. And don't expect any reward for them. I'm sure she'll appriciate them even if she does'nt say so.

Getting a girl something on the first date when you haven't met or gotten to know them is not really appropriate. Besides, anything you get will be impersonal anyway. Just be yourself and keep it simple.

you are asking what to get your girlfriend...she wants it from your heart not anyone else's don't just get her flowers and chocolates she can't keep them forever get her a proper gift to show her how much she means to you...maybe get her some jewlery with her and your names engraved init
