truthfully, the only way to really get calcium is when it is natural in the food you are eating, not supplements. Trust me, supplements have only a fraction of the effect as natural calcium.

Why are you taking calcium carbonate tablets? If you are taking them as a calcium supplement to your diet, research studies indicate that this form of calcium is absorbed best when taken with a meal.
Doses are absorbed better if divided amongst your day's meals. The larger the dose, the lower the percentage of absorption. So, for example, if you are taking 3 tablets with 300 milligrams of calcium in each tablet, overall you will absorb more calcium if you take one tablet at each of three meals compared to all three tablets at one meal.
Some research indicates that other forms of calcium supplements may be better for some people. Calcium citrate for some people is better absorbed than calcium carbonate and may also reduce your risk for kidney stones more efficiently than calcium carbonate.
Hope this was helpful. Best wishes.

Or perhaps you are taking them to neutralize acid? In which case it shouldn't matter- the effect is immediate upon the contents of your stomach.
