It is true that some feel this is another Bible contradiction. If one gives the accounts a serious consideration and not a cursory glance, one learns that both accounts are true. Luke reports that according to Jewish law, when eight days came to the full for circumcision, they named him Jesus. And when the days for purifying came to their full, Jesus was brought to Jerusalem to be presented to God.
Matthew reports that when the Magi left, Jesus' parents fled with him to Egypt and stayed until Herod died. Notice the account states that Jesus was not a baby in a manger - he was in a house with his parents when the Magi arrived. Also, according to the time carefully ascertained by Herod from the Magi, Herod ordered the murder of all males two years and under. Jesus could easily have been a toddler by this time. When Herod died, Jesus and his parents returned and settled in Galilee. There is no discrepancy here and no contradiction. The two events are separated, not by hours, but by anywhere from several days to two years.

Both
The wise men told Herod of the New King but they didn't show up until the Baby Jesus was about two years old. So His earthly parents presented Him at the temple according to custom as a baby then about two years later Joseph was warned to take Him into Egypt. Herod ordered all baby boys two years old and under to be killed because he was not told by the wise men until then.

Jesus was 8 weeks old when presented @ temple...many don't know that when the wise men visited Him, He was around 2 months old....when Jesus was around 2 months old, Herod issued the order and the family fled to Egypt.

No. there is no historical record of Herod ordering a massacre of young children. observant readers will note this sounds a lot like the story of Moses. This is Matthew's way of connecting Moses and Jesus.

Neither are true. The bible is a (albeit convincing) work of fiction that has taken to the hearts of many gullible people.
