I found this:

"A homogeneous society is one in which the majority of the members share the same cultural beliefs, attitudes, and values, and there is little difference in the economic wealth or social distance of the members of the society."

For example, the mormons in Utah is a homogenous society.

A homogeneous society is where everyone is from the same culture and/or race.

Japan is a classic example.

The United States (The Great Melting Pot) is the opposite, and is known as a heterogenous society.

Think of it this way, in chemistry, the homogeneous mixture will not mix. However, in society it is people who don't normally mix who actually find common ground. Oh, it is not necessarily Japan.
