if refusing the mark excludes one from commerce how do you pay the bills? is it a chip under the skin or is this a fiqurative scripture and the mark has more to do with what we do and think? I think I have an answer to this that I'm comfortable with, I just would like to know what others think.

I've considered your question, but I'm not sure if you are talking figuratively or not. Hopefully you are a saved person (accepted that Jesus Christ died for you and accepted salvation), and if you are then you don't have to worry about the mark of the beast for yourself because you won't be there. if you are saved today then when the rapture takes place you will immediately go to heaven. if you do not accept salvation before the rapture takes place then just know it's going to be bad. the seven years following the rapture will be by far the worst seven years in history. it will literally be hell on earth. it is then that the mark of the beast comes into play. you will not be able to legally buy or sell without it. (i take the words from the bible literally.) and if you don't take it they (government) will kill you. howeverd, if you do take it you will not have any more chances to accept salvation. this will be the most important decision that anyone will face during the that time. i know that dying doesn't sound like much fun either, but i would rather die and go to heaven than take the mark, die later and go to hell. i feel like i've probably gone on a bit more than what you were asking for so i'm going to stop now. if you want my take on what happens next or you are not sure how to avoid all of this and just get saved now, feel free to email me at onetiredmommaof2@yahoo.com . i hope this helps

I think the mark will be a chip on the skin. I doubt people who refuse to take the mark will be able to participate in daily buying and selling. I'm sure someone will find a way around it, though. The Bible says some will still be here when Christ returns again, right? So there must be a way believers will survive.

I think you are talking about this scripture.
Revelation 13:16 And it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead, 17 and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name. 18 Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man’s number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six.
I myself had questions about it. It's confusing.

If you do not take the mark of the beast you can't buy or sell. (You can prepare with canned goods, etc.) You may have your head cut off. You would only refuse to bow to the beast because you believe in Jesus and what was revealed to the prophet John in Revelations.
If you do take the mark of the beast, it indicates that your name is not written in the book of life & so your end could be the lake of fire. I would never take the mark of the beast or bow down to it.

There is no mark of the beast. That's a load of horsepuckey invented by early religious leaders to control the masses with fear. Enjoy life! It is fabulous! Don't waste your time worrying about this kind of foolishness.

basically, avoid the society that utilises the mark
leave western society, live in a remote, pure place that doesn't depend on electricity and cars
basically though, the mark won't work, or matter, without electricity, so look into your dependence on it, and see how you can live a life without it
