everything works but the vcr. dvd player/surround sound is sony tv is sony, vcr is magnovox, satelite is direct tv.

It's the line inputs on the TV. Theres settings in your tv for line in 1 and 2, also AV or AUX. Put in a tape hit play and switch through all of ith input settings until you get a picture. If this don't work double check your connections you might have a cable plugged into the wrong port.

Assuming you are using TV as the central hub to which all the above said devices are connected.

Check the cable. See if the VCR connects stand while being stand alone. Try changing the inputs.

You will have to buy an extra cable and hook your vcr up on an auxilary channel. If that fails call a technician or repairman.
