Are you asking people in general or if the people responding think they are personally better than other people? Lots of people think they are better than other people obviusly. Personally, it depends on the situation. Do I think I am better than a junkie crack head living on the street? Possibly, or I could just be lucky to have the upbringing and the will power to be able to avoid such a horrible existance.

I think (and I'm correct) that I'm better than a LOT of people, on the things that are "My thing".

I also KNOW that I'm NOT AS GOOD at other things.

No, but in some cases people become lovers of themselves rather than lovers of God. I for once believe I am who God made me to be not overrighteous but content in with what I have and what I believe in. NO ONE SHOULD THINK OF THEMSELVES AS BEING HIGHMINDED,OR BETTER THAN ANYONE BECAUSE PRIDE MAY LEAD THAT PERSON TO DESTRUCTION we all have same opportunity in life, Its the way you think about the things surrounding your life. If you think that to yourself well you got a high self confidence.Sometimes we believe in ourself too if we achieve something we felt proud that we tend to think we're better off from othrers..it depends on the situation sometimes.

i know i'm not perfect, but i do think i'm better than some people.

example: i respect everyone who respects me. i give of my time and money to the poor (or sick, depends on the person). i'm smarter than 88% of those who took the mcat. i think before i speak. i don't hurt animals. i spend time with my grandparents. and various other things. i'm not saying i'm better than EVERYONE else, just some people. in other words, i have self esteem bordering on arrogance.

oh, and i know myself very well.
