God does anything his/her believer want Him/Her to do.

No, lol, God no longer smites people personally. And here is why.... When Jesus came to Earth to act as a ransom sacrifice for all mankind that would put faith in him, he basically 'saved all who would put faith in him'. Ok, easy ,right? Now , for those who Didn't put their faith in him and decided to go their own separate ways and continue with their own hateful, vicious, wicked and sinful ways there will be a judgement day. Admittedly, since Jesus died, many people never even got to hear about him or his father Jehovah. Ok, so at 'Judgement Day' there will be millions of people to be judged. And Jehovah God knows their heart conditions, he knows deep inside their hearts how they really feel and think about things, so he can make a true judgement then if they have the right 'heart condition' to want to learn about him and be one of his people or not. Those that don't will be destroyed, but those that DO , will be given that chance. See, the Bible says that after the great battle of Armegeddon there will be a time of 1000 years in which those on the earth will be returning it to a paradise condition and growing to perfection. ( no more crime no violence, no sickness, no death........) and during that time, the ones who have never learned of Jehovah will be being taught. ( during this time- satan and his demons are locked up in 'chains' and not able to influence or bother these people in anyway, thus the peace!) . After the 1000 years, satan and co. will be released for a short time and many people will follow him , forsaking what they have learned . These then will be destroyed along with Satan and Co. into the great lake of fire that Revalations mention. This is a symbolic lake, it symbolizes complete destruction. NO MORE SATAN. Now I call that SMITING!!

What makes you think He stopped? Take a number .....your turn will come too soon. But seriously, I think you have a wrong understanding of that "God" guy. He would much rather apply grace and mercy towards us. He is most certainly long suffering and not willing that any should perish. If you are worthy of being smited this is actually a qualifier for recieving His gift of salvation. For God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for the ungodly. see Romans 5;6-8

Yes there are people and things that God, stills smite. But the main reason that God, no longer does it on a mass scale is because of the death of Jesus Christ, Which mean that we are now living under a period a period of Grace. There is a longer version of this explanation of this answer in the Bible. And please Read it as often as you can for I know that you will enjoy it.

God disciplines His children. It's a promise. In Exodus 20, it is written that the iniquities go on to the 3rd & 4th generation of those that hate God. Hating God is disobeying Him. That is a smite. If one loves God He/She gets the blessings. Loving God means to trust & obey Him.
God also makes judgments on the nations. When 9/11 happened, it took us by surprise. That is because people were not in touch with God when it was necessary at that time. God told a friend of mine to pray for the President, but she didn't know why. God woke Her out of sleep. I had a hunch something bad was going to happen, but I thought my horse might be attacked. Many people went to prayer for our nation with what God's Spirit was puting on their heart. Some people knew but no one would listen to them. Because of 9/11 more people are getting in touch with God. It was a wake up call.

Ask any fanatic, and he'll tell you that he still does so. Ask a fanatic mullah, and he'll say 911 was god smiting infidels. Ask Pat Roberson's ilk, and he;ll say, that USA is the chosen instrument of God, to punish infidels in Iraq.
God never 'smote' people, it was always people smiting people, in god's name.
Happened in the past, will continue to happen.

He smites people with bad fashion sense and terrible taste in partners. It's subtle, but enough to make his followers crazy.

Don't know why he stopped, but I've been asking him to smite me for awhile. Doesn't work.

He stopped because he never existed. But the nutters will say "he doesn't smite people he loves everyone" and then when you say "tsunami" they go "part of his cunning plan", "HIV" "cunning plan". "OK yep so he doesn't exist does he" "no" "You made it all up to try and sound cool didn't you?" "yep" "well it didn't work you just sound stupid don't you" "yes". well they wouldn't say the last bit but it is what they are thinking.

Yes he does.....but since many people do not believe in God, they may not recognize who is behind big disasters....
