Why be a Muslim and be a marine when you killing innocent people and your own sisters and brothers? I guess it's up to him but that would be crazy especially because this war is for all the wrong reasons and is killing so many innocent people. And I don't know why the marines don't want to accept him as it is his choice and they want more marines, but again this guy is crazy to want to be a marine.

The Marine Corps will defer to no religion, dress code, style preference or any other idiosyncrasies that will set someone apart from the rest.
The Marine Corps has Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews and other sects that it honors, and allows those who wish to practice their faith to do so, provided it is not inconvenient for the Corps to allow this practice.
As a Marine, your Muslim will get a regulation hair cut in boot camp, which consists of absolutely no head or facial hair. There is no exception to this rule! If he wishes to wear his traditional Arab head wear while in uniform, it is guaranteed he will wind up in the brig. ACLU doesn't have sh*it to say about Marine Corps policy, so he's wasting his time. The Marine Corps doesn't understand right and wrong, it only understands the Marine Corps way, and that will prevail!
As far as the Marine Corps denying this Muslim his right to join the Corps, they're probably saving his otherwise useless life.

There is nothing to stop a muslim joining the Marines or any other unit. There are religious facilities in the American military to cater for prayer etc for all mainstream religions.
He is however incorrect in stating that he "has" to wear his full beard and traditional arab headgear, because there is no complusion on him from his religion to do that.
Also the Traditional arab headgear thing leads me to believe that this is another one of your made up stories because the vast majority of the worlds muslims are not Arabs so the headgear thing has no linkage to Islam.
There are many muslims serving in the United States armed forces today.

I agree, up to a point. His right to worship as he pleases can not be restricted. However, the military has a code of "uniformity" that requires him to meet certain standards.
as to the beard: The late jurists of the Shaafi'ee school, are of the opinion that shaving the beard is disliked and not forbidden.
as to the head covering: Uncovering the head for men is lawful. So whoever prays without any cover on his head, his prayer is valid and there is no disagreement of scholars over this issue.
So, basically, ACLU loses another one...
They are not refusing to let him go. He is refusing to obey simple, legal requests. He doesn't deserve to be a Marine.
By the way, I coundn't find this on the ACLU website. Post a link please.

Hello again.
Is this a true story? If so, this nutcase must realize that the Marines have strict standards of conduct, deportment, and appearance. This Muslim's demands are completely inconsistent with those requirements.
This Muslim is not acting in good faith. If he wants to serve his country, he must accept their rules.
If the ACLU is really taking this case, that is the last straw. We're gong to make sure Bill O'Reilly (figuratively) beats them black and blue. A society cannot function if everyone screams about his "rights", totally ignoring their responsibility to contribute and fit in to society's norms.
People have gotten so crazy about their "inviolate rights" that when something relatively insignificant happens, they react by shooting someone.
The ACLU does not understand one simple concept: a society cannot function when everyone has the right to disrupt absolutely anything they don't agree with. Imagine if you had a big dinner party at your home, and "Sally" complains about all the dishes containing meat, because she is a vegetarian.
"Bill" objects to the gold-rimmed wine glasses because gold is sometimes mined by underpaid workers in third world countries.
"Janice" complains that the dinner plates were manufactured by a non eco-friendly company, and demands that her host destroy all the offensive china immediately.
"Ahmed" bitterly denouces his hostess because she is serving alcohol, which violates the precepts held dear in the Koran. Also, this infidel hostess should be covered from head to toe in a burka because her exposed calves are an abomination to god.
I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Just like this dinner party could not even be held, a society cannot function when the legitimacy of absolutely everything is constantly challenged.
Enough of this chaos.

Everything would be fine except the beard and the headwear. No matter what I've never heard of anyone being allowed to wear any headwear in uniform other than the one issued to them, and the only time I've seen someone with somewhat of a beard was if they had a shaving profile because of a skin condition... But I have seen people with yarmulka under their military headwear so maybe if it fits underneath you can wear it? I imagine that would cause some people to be upset that one person can wear it but others can't.

I agree with some of the previous...the Corps is never wrong!
We are in Iraq not to fight the Islamic religion, but those who terrorize innocent people on a daily basis. There are Muslim Marines....there are Muslim Marines in Iraq too--they pray right alongside those allied Iraqi Troops.
If he conforms he'll be given a chance to earn a spot in the Corps.

In a free nation people has the choice of the religion, but things are not same in military they have there own rules, so wether you are a christian, muslim, hindu, jew or anyone you have to follow the regulations setup by military
if rules ask soldier to clear his beard he SHOULD, praying to allah will not violate any code

The Marines are well within their perogatives in refusing to aceed to his wishes to wear a beard and traditional Arab headgear. Not only would he make an ideal target for snipers, he wouldn't be wearing the required uniform. One of the purposes of the uniform is to be ... well ... uniform!

Of course he can be a Marine! A Soldier swears allegiance to his Country, his faith has nothing to do with it. My Husband (A Senior British Army Officer) has people of all creeds, colours and ethnicities serving under him, they are ALL British and they ALL serve our Nation. I can think of one Officer I know who wears a turban, as do some of our Police. It is outrageous for him to be refused the right to serve his country because of his religious beliefs and is yet another example of the completely unjustified Anti Arab sweeping The States. The IRA who terrorised us for many years were Christians!
