Yes, we believe in the same God, but we have serious differences about matters of doctrine, and interpretation of various Scripture passages, and authority of the church, and several other things. You should also keep in mind that various Protestant groups can have almost as much disagreement with each other as they do with the Catholic church. But the major unifying theme of all Protestantism is the doctrine that the Bible is the only acceptable source for correct doctrine, while Catholics also accept the traditions and pronouncements of the Church. That's a major, major sore spot. You could probably derive all the other disagreements from just that single one.

That is a very complex question. Protestantism began as a political religious movement ( both go together ) in the XVI century. Many rulers, like Henry VIII saw here a way to refuse taking orders from the Pope and do whatever they wanted. Henry wanted a divorce to marry his mistress and since the Pope said NO, he became head of the English church.
Well, nowadays, protestants are so many, with many different ideas, that would be an endless taks to explain all the differences. Let's say that protestants do not accept the Pope's authority, interpret the Bible as a store catalogue, let's say: they read it and they say: I like this, I will do it. I don't like that, I will not do it

There are many. Some protestants are close to Catholicism eg Anglicans others are far from it eg fundamentalists.
I think the main difference must be The Eucharist. (Holy Communion). The Catholic Church accepts, and puts a lot of emphasis on, John 6 : 25-57. Most Protestant denominations do not accept that Jesus actually meant what he said there.
God Bless.

Protestants are those who broke away from the catholic church. They believe in the same God but Catholics have a ritual for everything and put the Pope as head of the church.

A protestant is a Christian that believes that the bible is the only book you need to live by. A Catholic is a person, saved or not, who believes they have to be told what to believe by the priest and go through him, and add a lot of men made stuff.

The protestants are more conservative, believing that God is vengeful. Catholics believe he is a forgiving God, and take a more liberal view of the world.

same god different religions, different rules and regulations.
Christ was about freedom from laws, religion is about controling people with them. You'll find nothing in church but nice words and thick governments.
