Don't need anymore, since we must have a passport for most places. The passport overrides any other proof of ID.

In the old days you could take a birth certificate, which would often have a different last name, the marriage license was proof of name change.

The only exception, is if you just got married and booked the ship using your maiden name. Don't think that happens very often.

You DON'T need to take your social security cards either!

I would strongly suggest using a 'cruise agent' next time. Many general travel agents often don't have a real clue when it comes to taking a cruise.

It is a good idea if you don't have a passport. They have to match your I.D. to your birth certificate and depending on the agent at the ports and how picky they are, they may require the license. It can be a touchy situation sometimes and each cruise line is a little different as far as what they recommend you bring. It's not a bad idea to take it along just in case.

I did not, but i'm 13, and single. I don't know if you need one with the Disney Cruise Line, or Carnival, or Royal Carribean, or any other cruise lines. Sorry I can't help you.

My wife had to bring ours. It is to help track the name change from your birth certificate.

No-any one can say they are married. But it is much funner to get the reaction of people when you say you are living in sin.
