First there is no sin in man, it may be imperfection or misunderstanding.
sin and forgiving is the tool of the religious touts to make you mental slave of their religion.
You are a pure divine soul...experiencing the human life. Enjoy it (and steal more and more paperclips...I forgive you without asking any thing in return)

All I know is that the paperclips that were ever returned to me looked like they had been raped by someone. Thats not a nice thing to do. So if you take a paperclip, you might as well steal it for good and then live with the sin or ask for forgiveness.

Don't you worry your little head non, Jim. I lined your basket with all the paperclips you'd ever want. But if you take one with the intent of stealing - you're stealing from yourself and only sinned against yourself (and that my friend is just dumb).
But realistically - I do not see how one can steal a paperclip. No one I know of gives a flip if you take a paper clip. However, if the person is experiencing a lot of guilt in thinking about taking it, and takes it anyway - In his heart He Stole it.
Returning said Paper Clip shows remorse, and thats what forgiveness of sin is all about - remorse and fixing the mistake if at all possible. If a sin cant be fixed by returning an object - the remorse and asking forgiveness will do.
KEEP YOUR MITTS OF MY PAPER CLIP THOUGH! I have one left, giving you all I have but one. This will be used to suspend that basket from the cable when your launch date approaches. Heh-heh.

You need to confess to God you're a sinner needing a Savior & confess Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior. Believe His blood covers your sin and you are made whole. Believe in your heart, He rose from the dead and you will be saved.
Then You can just pray to your Father in Heaven if this paperclip needs to be returned to so and so. I'm sure you have sinned more than just stealing a paperclip in your life. I think God will direct you to return it. Making Jesus your Lord means You trust and obey Him. When you mess up, confess up. He is just to forgive you your sin and cleanse You from all unrighteousness.

Every one steals Paperclips and Ink Pens too! ;-) You just part of Human Nature and we ALL about the same. You can return the Paperclip, but, I think you have to give them 10 X what you stole to make it Right. God just lets people suffer the consequences of their Sin/Wrongs. He not too worried about paperclips, He just allow Human Nature to prevail and one day someone Steal your Really Cool Ink Pen. ;-)

It's amazing that people would feel guilty about taking a paperclip and call it stealing. If you go into someone's office and take their last paperclip knowing that there are no more in the building and they will need it, that would be stealing. If there are thousands of them in your building, take it... it's borrowing. They'll probably be in your office tomorrow writing with your pen and stealing your ink.

God can always forgive people no matter how big or small it may be. Returning the paperclip would be the right thing to do though.

Jesus is concerned about the smallest thing.
To be forgiven, you must ask for it.
Stealing is not the only sin here. Pride also is involved. Yes pride.
You stole because you decided that the other person does not need it. You are saying that you are better than someone else, and there for can take what you want from them. This is pride, and that is also a sin.
God is worried about our motives, not just the act.

The Reverand Farwell promises that you will rot in Hell forever if you steal a paperclip. Meanwhile, Farwell does what he pleases.
