He didnt create the snake to test them. he gave them free will, otherwise we would have been slaves of God. he created us, made our lives and world perfect, in exchange for serving him and being near him. But he also offered people the choice to be distant from him. Eat the fruit and you will die. Thats what he said, the snake simply tricked eve, and adam followed after her, because they were one.
Satan's been around since before the begining of time. He was cursed and expelled from heaven and fell to earth before it was formed into our world. He simply possessed the snake to gain access to eve. The snake was cursed for being possessed, the earth was cursed because ti was handed over to satan after the humans ate the fruit. people were cursed because they becames slaves to a god who was cursed (satan).
Jesus died to reconcile us to God, the world will be reconciled in the end.
Its love. If you love a man and want to marry him and have his babies and live happily every after becuse you love him and think he's the best and on and on, wouldnt you WANT him to love you back, instead of having to because you said so? God simply gave us the chance to not want him, but someone else.

The serpent was lucifer who was cast out of heaven. Was it unfair? I don't think so. I'm sure Adam and Eve not knowing anything but living in the garden with God, were very infantile in their thinking. Man would never progress in that kind of perfect environment. God knows all, and in His infinite wisdom knew the choice Adam and Eve would make before they did. But having free will, he had to let them choose. No point to free will without a choice. God also warned them what would happen if they made the wrong choice. So God instilled a plan for the future. He said in the garden. It started with the woman and shall end with the woman. Under the heel of the woman, the head of the snake shall be crushed. Speaking of the birth of Jesus from Mary., which frees us all from the penalty of sin. If we do what's required of us. God puts trials or allows temptation so we can pass or fail and learn from our choices, becoming ever better for our Lord. God doesn't want puppets......he wants sheep. And if you know anything about sheep. Yes they are trained to follow the shepherd, but can be very independent and stubborn. Just like us! lol

You are taking it way out of context and giving a very shallow point of view with your opinion.
God gave instructions to not eat the forbidden fruit. Adam and Eve chose to not listen and ended up being punished.
You tell a kid not too drink and he does. He drives and has an accident. He knew it was forbidden and not advised, yet he chose to do it anyway. Now he must suffer for his choice.
That is what the lesson teaches.
He gave Adam and Eve the world and asked for them to listen to him on this one thing.
That is what it's all about and people love to add their own theories and ridicule the lesson, instead of understanding it.
I'm not trying to be mean to you with what I say. I'm telling you not to take question a lesson when the lesson is to teach. Scenarios can always be added, like you stated, but it detracts from the message.

We all have free will. I have the same opportunity to choose God's will as Adam & Eve had. They chose poorly. We make these decisions every day.
.
If your rear the 5 yr old up right- he will leave the ice cream alone. When he becomes a teen he will not drink.
Of course, we all fall short of God's perfect will, but though his grace we are forgiven.
...
That's the more than fair, don't you think.

He did not create the serpent to test Adam and Eve. Satan was an angel before he became evil. He was jealous of God and wanted people to worship him instead, so he let a wrong desire to develop into his heart, which lead him to mislead Eve into eating the forbidden fruit.

It was definitely unfair. It's bad enough to have a tree you can't eat from.
God: You can have the fruit of aaaaaaaany tree...except THIS ONE!!
Adam/Eve: I didn't even WANT it until you said I couldn't have it!
And then he sends a serpent to tempt them. God totally set them up!

It just a story to teach people that they have choices in life. You can avoid temptation such as drugs and porn or you can ruin your life. That is the lesson the story of Adam and Eve teaches.

Wasn't the serpent the devil? I don't think God put him there. However God did give them the one rule not to eat from the tree.

It's a silly story written by people who had no real knowledge of the actions of the people that came before them. Get informed.

Well, first of all, Adam & Eve were not "five-year-old", instead they knew and understand 'right from wrong'. They were therefore perfect and had the "freewill" to choose which way they would take. In actually the fruit of the garden (in this case) was not place in front of them to take.
Let us look at this in another point of view, using the Bible picture of the garden of Eden with your scenario (ice cream:). Let us imagine that there was ice cream instead of a fruit. According to the Bible there was plenty to choose from. So with this in mind, the Creatour told Adam & Eve that they could eat from ALL the "ice cream" (fruits), but from the tree of good & evil they were not to eat from it or else they would die. (Genesis 3: 1-5)
"'From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.’” (Gen. 2:9, 16, 17)
Now think for a moment, a person had the opportunity to eat ALL he can eat, a buffet-like, of all the varieties and different ice creams (fruit trees) he/she could eat.
Question: Why would they want to go after that one single ice cream (Fruit) that belong to the Creatour? After all, it taste the same. But you had different varieties. How would you react if that person were to take what did not belong to them?
Compared to the senario above, this was a similiar situation that took palce in the garden of Eden. Eve knew that it belong to her God (Creatour) and she so stated that to the rebelious angel. But he insisted that it was better off, so to speak, and that (she), ‘You positively will not die. For God knows that in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like God, knowing good and bad.’”
Well, would you not call this rebellion? No doubt any one would say that she took something that did not belong to her. Although time and space does not permit to go on, hence we see that the situation took on a majour problem to thier children. Something they knew would happen to them if they were to disobey their Heavenly father. In fact, when we look further into this issue, we see that Adam & Eve did not care about the affects and what it would so or become on their children. Thus we are facing the mark of thier sinful course (like a gene) and so we grow old and die.
After all, to the first human pair, Adam and Eve, God stated, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the domestic animals, and all the living things that crawl on the earth!” (Gen. 1:28, AT) That this is God’s purpose regarding the earth is also made clear at Isaiah 45:18, where we are told that God formed the earth to be inhabited.
No, it was not God (Creatours) doing nor did he purposely trick them or cause them (Adam & Eve) to do so without knowing what they were incabable of doing so. Ask please yourself, why would he (Creatour) cause something like this to happen and then allow for judgement or condemnation to befall us all as a result? Notice please James 1:13-15 reads:
"When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death."
Soon the Creatour's purpose will again be realise and he will cause those who wish to live in a righteous new world to dwell upon it forever. Consider these promises under his kingdom (government) that we were told by Jesus to pray for, that will 'take place upon earth' (Matt. 6:9, 10):
