Actually, if we were using government money for people instead of wars, we would have enough money and people to supply food for decades. I'd also say Wyoming, Montana, Idaho...and other states in that region are in VERY good shape, especially Wyoming because of all the open space perfect for farming. Also, the United States having to import food isn't that big of a deal, becoming isolationist is not an option at this point in time. If having people around is such a big deal, don't you think Europe would've made some changes years ago?

California and Texas are in the best shape you said, well California and Texas have the largest immigration problem. So do the math. I mean we're in the best shape because the farmers can afford to pay this immigrants very cheap labor. So they don't lose as much as the other parts of the country to harvest their crop. My opinion is that the US needs to put a limit to were development should be allowed. Why is the US importing cattle I live in the Texas panhandle and around Amarillo I know there are tons of cattle feed why not just make them bigger there's a lot of open area around here.

You are SO right!! That has been one of my concerns too, what with all the ILLEGALS coming to the U.S.!!! Just MILLIONS MORE mouths to feed!!!

There are a lot of farms in Arizona being bought out to,by developers!!! At one time, most of this area was farmland, but NOW the big developers have been buying up all the land areound here!!!!

WHERE are we going to get our food from soon??!!! We do NOT need even MORE mouths to feed over here!!!!!!!!!!

yes i want more people here. and yes we will be able to feed everyone. this is the united states of America. if you look at the parts of the world that have trouble feeding their population. it is the country that do not allow immigration or any changes for that matter

Land is "lost" to development because it is not profitable to farm. Get rid of the subsidies and let farmers grow hemp and marijuana as cash crops, and you'll see that change.

The solution isn't just to limit immigration. We need to do a lot more to encourage worldwide population contro, preferably birth control.
