Does it matter if you are a product of a big bang or evolution or a god or a flying spaghetti monster?

If you knew the answer for real would it change anything about who you are today?

If it was that important, wouldn't everyone be concerned about it.
Its a mere luxury to try to settle the issue.

Because man is a spiritual being as well as physical and is constantly looking for a higher meaning to life.
When we are like the animals then it leaves out a higher meaning and we live and die like the dogs and cats. What have we accomplished? We have suffered in this life to some degree and the older one gets the less quality of life one has until you finally die. It leaves one without meaning, and only having children like the animals really leaves a person with no real purpose.
The old retirement watch story, you work for the company and give your best years and at 65 you get a watch and a retirement and within 2 to 3 years you die. For what??
Man is made with a certain knowledge that there is a God, and that is why there is so much fighting here when people are really trying to ignore or stop the little voice that says "what if you are wrong about God & he really does exist" ..

It has been noted that the only thing that evil requires of good men is that they do nothing. If Godly origins are not included in ones world view then the dynamics of pursuing an alternate ideology to its logical conclusion will prevail. If it is important to have a unified field of knowledge which answers the deepest questions in the heart and mind of man then yes, origins are important. Truth has to have a totality to it that fits with all our existential experience and only within the Judeo-Christian belief of God bringing the world by fiat into existence can this be realized. The flying spaghetti monster theory fails all tests of intellectual inquiry.

The importance of knowing that mankind was created by God in his image can be seen in the devaluation of human life in today's society. If there is no God then mankind is just a cosmic accident that has no eternal hope or purpose in being here. A man or a woman is of no greater importance than a rat or a dog and there is no reason to submit to the moral laws contained in God's Word since there isn't anything to be gained other than to live a life of self-centered pleasure seeking until a person finally ceases to exist.

Since I trust in God's revealed truth to mankind your second question doesn't pertain to me. Instead the changed life I now live in Christ demonstrates what God has done to make me a person who lives for eternal rewards instead of the transitory and illusional "rewards" that an unregenerate persons seeks after.

No, I know the origin of man and if I get people to understand that it's all a lie, then things could change, the origin of Humans is another story that I will not go into at this time

Human beings are naturally curious which is why we want to know. Why is one of the first questions children will ask - it's inherent in us. Even if the why was definitively answered it would not change who I am. My morals, my opinions would still be the same.
