There are lots of websites you can visit, also check out yahoo groups. I am a stay at home mom with 4 children. One site is www.clubmom.com I met a stay at home mom with the same name as me, same number of children and she home schools, which I plan on starting in the fall. How cool is that? clubmom is a cool site because you can connect with moms that have the same interests as you, number of children, live in your area, etc. It's a great place to meet new friends that share the same wonderful job as you. They have a lot of other things there as well. You can find me there under busymom42005

It depends on how large the city is where you live... in bigger towns there are lots of clubs like MOPS, La Leche League, Mom's Club, Meetup.com groups, etc. Look in the newspaper, community info boards at the library and stores, churches and online for local groups.
If you are in a smaller town, you have to look a little harder because it's usually not as structured. Library story times, parks, pools, and other public places that preschoolers enjoy are the best bet. You might have to try various times of the day before you find the popular times. Most mommies are willing to make conversation so even if you aren't social, make yourself initiate a few conversations with people who have kids with similar ages & similar parenting styles (don't underestimate the importance of the latter! LOL!). With luck, you'll find a few whose company you enjoy and you'll be on your way to making a new friendship!
Good luck & hang in there! It is so worth it to build that support system. If there's one thing every SAHM needs, it's a good friend she can rely on to be there for her!

It depends on what you are looking for. If you just want to chat, there are plenty of sites that can put you in contact with other moms who are interested in emailing. I talk to a few moms almost daily that I have met this way. If you are looking more for local moms, just go to the park during the day. I was surprised by how many SAHMs I met this way.

www.MOMSClub.com
You can find a local MOMS Club in your area using that link.
I am a member and I enjoy it very much - we have playgroups for each age group, Moms Night Out, Scrapbooking nights, park days, etc etc ...
99% of the moms are SAH there are a few who work part time.
