Let your mother have her second childhood. She probably gave up the first one by being a responsible parent for you! I'm doing the same thing as she is. I'm 53 and you know what? At least my children support my decision to feel young again. You only pass through this lifetime once, there are no second chances once you die. So let her be happy. Don't you at least want that much for the person who gave you life and took care of you all those years??? Support her decision and...if you have a job and you work for a living, why don't you take her shopping for a new outfit? Perhaps suggest something preppy and upscale. I am sure she would accept your suggestions if you gave it in a loving way. I know I can get away with at least wearing something that a 30 yr old wears....a new haristyle and manicure at a salon would make her feel great! Help her with style and while you're at it pay for the bill ok? If you're not working and still living at home under her roof....then keep your mouth zipped.

Try going shopping with her and getting a salesperson to show your Mom all the wonderful outfits that would suit her age better; believe me, older women dressing too young just looks ridiculous.

It is likely none of your business, unless she asks for your advice.
You could buy her a subscription to a fashion magazine that is more appropriate to her age. If you can find one.
You could tell her that she has so much more credibility when she presents herself in a more sophisticated way that is age appropriate.
It is a challenge today to find sophisticated clothes for a mature fit woman, because so much of the market has shifted to the higher profit, high- turnover disposable market of teen-looks.
Gentle, kind encouragement can be much more effective in the long run.

Maybe the fashion has come around to your mom's generation again. Fashion is after all cyclical.

If she enjoys the way she dresses, I don't see how it is your place to say it is wrong.
Just because it does not agree with you does not mean it does not look good to her and she is the one wearing it.

You can advise her on what to wear, but beware, it may not have any effect. She has to realize that what she is wearing is not appropriate for her age group. At worst, she may tell you to mind your own business.

Tell her honestly that the clothes she's wearing make her look silly/other.

Why is it your business how she dresses? Does it embarrass you? (Like you've never embarrassed her, right?)
She's worked hard raising you, and she deserves to do something for herself.
