I think that prostitution is illegal because if crosses religious moral boundaries. This country was founded by religion. Its an on going battle. I personally think that we should follow Nevada's lead. At least this way the "working lady's" can get some type of medical insurance of sorts. Not to mention the police can be used for more impotent things. Seriously look at how long its been in Amsterdam!

As far as the porn industry goes its falling into the freedom of speech or 1st amendment rights. Its not like you turn on your TV on standard network and see it. If you are against porn stop renting/buying the movies. That being said I don't think that will happen. Right now the porn industry is doing better then ever. For all those conservatives who have there collections hidden in a loose panel under your bed and talk of stopping this industry I laugh at you.

Some states differentiate between porn and prostitution, not all do however. Such as making a porno is illegal in Tennessee. The laws regulating the two differ from state to state.

Because it's soliciting to the public except in Reno, Nevada.

I'm relatively sure that prostitutes in Nevada and porn stars all have scheduled medical screenings so that they do not spread AIDS all over and then we end up like Africa. If you don't believe me try time.com as in time magazine and type in aids in Africa.

My guess would be that both participants are being paid so therefore there is no solicitation. Also where would we draw the line in a movie? A kiss between two actors?

Maybe all prostitutes should just claim they are making a movie... and advertise for actors wanted. That would be legal.
