It usually takes 3-4 weeks to have the effects felt. It takes that long for the brain's "stocks" to get filled up with the transmitter that is in Zoloft (a person in depression lacks a certain material, therefore the symptoms).

Your doctor or other health care professional would be the best person to answer this question but I think that it can take up to 6 weeks in some cases.
Be patient and kind to yourself. You are going through a rough time and need the support of your family and friends. There are many websites with chat rooms devoted to mental illness. You can find them by googling "mental illness".
I'll be thinking of you and I am sorry that you are not well. Hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel will come soon. Until then try to see your doctor or counsellor as much as you can for additional support. You are not alone, there are many people out there who understand and can empathize with what you are going through.

I took Zoloft and it made me very irritable.I told the doctor about this and they decided to up my dose instead of taking me off of it. That night I had a seizure ...Mind you that I was already prone to having a seizure because I was coming down off of alcohol at that time. Anyway I had that seizure and the doctor still gave me that Zoloft that then made me crazy enough to BITE my 10 year old daughter and try to smoke a sparkler That you get on 4th of July.Anyway if you feel strange ,make your doc listine .....my sure didn't....

It can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks for it to be fully effective. If things get worse, either the depression intensifies or if you get very anxious, call your doctor. Not every medication works the same in everyone, and it may not be the right medication or dosage for you.

It can take a couple to several weeks before a change is notice. As far as "normal again", guess that would depend on the person and what he/she considers normal.

It, of course, varies from person to person but I would say about 4-6 weeks. It is a long wait when you are already not feeling good but the wait is worth it.
