Your computer has an internal battery on the motherboard that keeps things alive in there. Also, apparently you are connected to the Internet. Most computers now have a windows time synchronization program that automatically updates your time. Check it out by double-clicking on the time in your task-bar. A pop-up window appears. Click on Internet Time. Viola!

If you look on your battery, there is a small battery placed close to the CMOS chip. The CMOS chip is alive and well and keeps track of all your bios changes along with the time. The battery usually lasts a good 3-4 years so don't worry, but if it were to die, then you'd have to replace it and reconfigure your BIOS settings to be saved into the CMOS.

There is a small battery(CMOS) placed on the motherboard which allows the computer to remember Time/Date as well as important BIOS boot-up information.
Most computers using a broadband connection to the Internet also sync themselves up to a Global Time server provided by Microsoft (time.windows.com) which adjusts the computer time if any delay is present.

Because it's BACKED UP... with a "button" battery.
The chip which contains the clock always has power.
