Repeat after me: You can be against the war but still support the troops. In fact, people who were against this war ARE for the troops - trying to protect them from fighting an unneccessary, preemptive war.
Don't forget, Saddam posed no immediate threat to us whatsoever. He had no capability to attack us. Even if he has WMD's (he didn't, in case you hadn't noticed), he had no warheads capable of reaching any part of the United States. In addition, Saddam had no link to Al Qaeda and 9/11.
Therefore, this war was not to defend the US or defend freedom. Hell, we could be doing a better job of defending the US and freedom right here in the good ol U. S. of A!
Don't listen to the rightwing pundits who try to equate anti-Iraq war with anti-troops or anti-patriotism.
I love this country!

Okay, so it's great that you value freedom. Yet, you seem to harbor several delusions about it. The first is that our freedom is threatened by muslims. There is not the least chance in hell that the United States could be taken over by a muslim country. If they ever tried, that would be the time to go to war, but pre-emptive war is for cowardly scum. Second, the greatest threat to our freedom is Congress, passing laws such as the Patriot Act and countless other infringements against the Bill of Rights. You are buying into the old, tired rhetoric that we are free because our soldiers killed people. That hasn't been true since the Revolutionary War. Moreover, all of this assumes that we actually have "freedom" in the United States, a notion that becomes more and more difficult to prove every time Congress meets.

I have no problem going after those who attacked us. I see no point in going after those who have no capacity to attack us.
I love the "sheet over my head" comment. DO you know what bigotry means? Look it up.
So this is what i have to say:
if you dont like the war then move to a country where u have no. freedom at all
Most people insert France in there (since we despise the country that gave us modern democratic political philosophy, crucial military support in the Revolutionary War, that big green lady in the New York harbor, and steadfast alliance for our entire existence. Stupid French!) I love America, too, so there's no reason I should leave. Loving America means staying here and putting in the hard work needed to see America live up to her ideals.
I am Proud that my FREEDOM is being defended
How. exactly, is YOUR FREEDOM being defended with a war of aggression on a soverign nation? YOUR freedom has nothing to do with this war, except in the "freedom of speech" you use to support it. Don't try to stifle mine hust because I disagree.
War is the gravest step a government can undertake. If you are going to wring your hands about where oh where America is going to find the raw meat for the perpetual war that you glorify, look in the mirror. If you have never served, now is the time.
Am I any less patriotic than you because I don't agree with you on every issue? Were our founding fathers unpatriotic because they didn't agree with their rulers? Open your eyes.
“The highest patriotism is not a blind acceptance of official policy, but a love of one's country deep enough to call her to a higher plain” - George McGovern

honey. What a piece of first prize American buls..t.You haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about but... I defend your right to say it.
Where on Earth do you live? Are you so far away from reality?
Irak didn't come to American shores in any shape or form and would hardly have done so.
The USA is hardly a country of freedom. I have seen the poverty, the hatred and racism. You have one of the highest crime rates in the world. Your business' stink of corruption Emron being one of many that spring to mind.
You have Billionaires, Oprah amongst many telling the poor and needy what they should be doing to get out of their plight.
(90% of the wealthin the USA is with 8% of the population and you live in freedom and democracy.
Stop this God rubbish. He ain't American. Even though you guys name him every second of the day.
War is never justified. The reason USA went to war is OIL nothing maore nothing less.
We Brits gave you back America. Make sure you look after it properly and realise there are other countries in the World.
What a shame that you need to call your soldiers heros.I wonder how many want to be there.
Problem with uniforms is they turn people into something they dont need to be.

I think you qare probably very young and not really in possession of a full understanding of why this War was started. We went into Iraq because we were ALL conned into believing there were WMD. There weren't. We have murdered many thousands of innocent Iraqis and occupied their country which contains Terrorist Cells, as does my Country, as does yours. My husband who is an Army Officer has been deployed there twice and a close friend, a young Captain was recently killed there. When you have stood at the funeral of someone who was killed trying to help re-build a Country, which we have illegally occupied, then & only then will you understand that this War, like many others, should never have happened.

Your question shows you are un-informed and do not have facts.
I do not watch Conservative Bias TV or read Conservative bias news print. Turn off Rush and Fox and read some. In education you will find truth. In the end Iran will control Iraq, Iran is the winner.
Iraq did not attack this country. We now have 2489 brave Americans dead and over 15,000 wounded. In Iraq they have over 300,000 dead civilians. How is this a GODLY act of a GODLY nation? Is this your example of "love thy neighbor as thy self"
There were very few terrorist in Iraq before we invaded. 17 of the 19 hi-jackets were Saudis.
After Desert Storm, Iraq had no planes, no tanks and half it's army had deserted. They had no air defense. What GODLY man or GODLY country would attack a country that was helpless and had already surrendered? Iraq is about Oil and money, we are not fighting in Iraq to protect the USA. We are not fighting terrorist in Iraq, terrorist do not stand and fight, they do the dirty work behind our back. No terrorist would ever face our Marines, ever in a fair fight, I know, I'm one.
BTW, you spit on the grave of every service man and woman who is now dead when you tell Americans to leave this country.
They gave that life to defend the Constitution and freedom of speach, our way of life. They follow orders, they don't control the wrong decisions of our leaders. No one who has never served will ever really know war. War is hell, war is about killing. War should always be the last choice not the first.

Oh come on, no one said you were getting bombed and you didn't get bombed, so what are you talking about. Your freedom isn't being defended, the iraqi oil is being defended by the Iraqis and fought for by the Americans. And we are against war because alot of innocent people are being killed for no good reason or for oil. Honestly, you think the war was started cuz of a bomb or for your freedom, yeah right, Bush just wanted the oil.

America didn't ask to be bombed when they toppled government after government in South America in the 70's.
America didn't ask to be bombed when they were found guilty of crimes against humanity by the 1975 war crimes tribunal overseen by Sartre.
America didn't ask to be bombed when they were handed global dominance on a plate with the fall of USSR and mishandled it SO badly as to get away with the little they have so far felt.
America didn't ask to be bombed when they dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan in WWII killing mostly civilians.
America didn't ask to be bombed when they bombed Afghanistan into the stone age and a people who've hardly heard of Osama Bin Laden coz they barely own sheep never mind a radio or guns were punished in American foreign ignorance.
America didn't ask to be bombed when they rounded up into camps and killed many of the natives on the soil they claimed as their manifest destiny.
Your culture has a bloody history and the freedom you fight for is an idea that you are ensalved to that costs lives everywhere on a daily basis. I'm sorry, but there's more than one side to this and if good Americans wish to be critical let them question this bloodshed.
A European.

I don't think everyone is against the war, i think were tired of it. We have been in Iraq for to long, it is a win loose situation. My husband is in the army and was deployed for a year and while things have changed there our people are still dying, and weather you except it or not we are always going to be over there. There is no winning the war, if there was it would of Been won by now and the Iraqis would be able to take care of there own country by now.

I gave over a decade of my life to the military and was discharged honorably, I just got out in December '05. Why might you ask would I walk away from a career that was thriving and putting food on the table for my family....this war, I could not be apart of it any longer. Common sense should apply here when you consider this war, many of men and women have died for this cause, and NO ONE, not even yourself can explain in a rational way what the "cause" is. Trust me, when your on the front lines dodging bullets and you question it...something is terribly wrong. I want my friends home now, before I lose any more.
