I've often heard people claiming to be heredity witches. Most often it is not true at all since witchcraft and paganism have been so suppresed it was long abandoned being a survival issue. This happened with the Jewish religion as well, since so many would have had to risk their lives if they admitted to being Jewish. And so who would even tell young children, risking their lives as well.
So if your family hid its "witch craft" leanings, how did you find out about it? Who told you? And just as importantly how does your family practice it?

to Kanemochisam: There is such a thing as Hereditary Witches and they come in all forms. Many of them are "WIcca" type people purely Pagan...many famous ones, especially in Great Britain. Other claim to have "pyschic " type talents running in their family , like Sylvia Brown. Those of us who are Witches have natural talents and have had experiences with it since childhood. The religious practice is another element of it. So the whole thing is 2 fold: natural talents and the religious practice. In Wicca and other pagan religions, you ARE the God/dess..unlike christainity where you only worship the God.

i am studying witchcraft because i'm a bit psychic and i thoughf my classmates were too, but they were not I think being a witch is not heredetary as being a christian is not heredetary. There has to be an action to profess such.

I have often felt as if my soul is linked to being a Witch, that is one of the reasons I took to learning about witchcraft so young and have always been looking into the five elements (earth, wind, water, fire, and love.) So maybe my family comes from a bloodline to Witches from long ago, but I have never been told so. I am now half Wiccan and half Christian.

My great-great grandmother was a witch - born with a veil and everything, said to have incredible psychic powers. Not much is known about how that affected my great-grandmother's upbringing. My grandmother is Baptist and shuns the facts of her family past.

I was obviously not brought up that way - but my entire life, I have had a weird gift of intuition to the point that some episodes are scary. My family doesn't talk much about it - and generally skate around the conversation...

i think i might be a hereditary witch but i don't know for sure. i think i am because i know that my grandfather was pretty intuitive when it came to family and my mom has it too. also my grandfather's father looked like he descended from people near ireland or scotland which is where paganism comes from.
i guess it's ironic in this case because we all jewish, at least now.
