I personally don't eat animal flesh. Humans think they are superior to animals for some odd reason.

I don't eat animal flesh and I wouldn't be shocked if an animal ate a human. A Dingo Ate My Baby! How can anyone be shocked when we here about it happening all the time. I would be shocked if someone fed another person to an animal but again that has happen before.
I don't know what any religion says about it.

Some religions don't believe in eating animal flesh. Doesn't stop the animals from eating them, though.

We have all come here (to this physical human incarnation) with a subconscious knowledge of the challenges we would be facing. This includes animals. We all have a purpose. Your purpose could be to touch someone else's life in some way, in order to teach them something which will assist in the evolution of the soul. The same is true with animals, they know, as spirits, before they choose to enter this physical incarnation on earth, what their purpose is. For some it is to provide physical nutrition for humans. For others it is to provide love and companionship for humans. For some it is to roam wild. It is different for every animal, just as the purpose of life is different for every human.
I HIGHLY suggest reading the short story, the Little Soul and the Sun, by Neale Donald Walsch, who illustrates this theory beautifully.

I don't think people get "shocked" when say a lion or a shark eats a human. But as to what the Bible says about it...
"And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man. Genesis 9:5

I don't know what "religion" has to say about this subject (and I really don't care, either) but I can tell you where to find what God said about it in the Bible (which most religious people don't follow anyway): Genesis 9:1-6.

we humans assume animals not to have thoughts or feelings... and we dont really identify with them (imagine identifying with a monkey??) so eating them is 'justified'.
if an animal eats another fellow human, u juz imagine urself in his/her shoes.. hahaha.. i guess that explains it??
