If you want a serious answer, this is it. I have worked in Law Enforcement for 15 years and this is one of the more mundane types of contact the police have. DON'T LIE!!!!!. If you know you were speeding say so IF ASKED. Be polite and don't make excuses, the officers have heard them all and know when you are lying. Don't give the officer grief, after all this is his job and depending on how fast you were going you may have be a hazard to yourself and others. A ticket is not the end of the world and in most places if you do not receive multiple tickets you can get it dismissed by taking a safe driving course. Remember the roadways are for everyone so be safe and allow others to be safe also. Good Luck!

Try not to say anything. If you try to contest the citation any comment you make may be used in court with a possible negative result.
Be polite, give them your license, registration and insurance card, and then do nothing.
If you are too anxious sometimes the officer may think you are under the influence of something or have something in the vehicle or on your person that may be considered illegal.
Oh yeah, and after you get the ticket, be sure to tell them THANK YOU!

If you see the blue lights come on behind you, pull over as fast as you can. Lot's of cops like when you do that because your showing that your not trying to be sneaky and act like you didn't do anything. If you know what you were doing wrong just tell him what you were doing wrong. Cops like when your honest. It'll get you out of a ticket sometimes, and then other times it'll just get your ticket a little smaller. Or if you have a fast car you could just run... Haha.

You ask politely what the offense is and then you do not argue, that is what the court system is for. Just try to remember that 90% of the time he is doing his job. Not to say that there are not bad cops and things like speed traps and is done for revenue purposes only. But that is really rare throughout the country.

Tell him the needle on your speedometer just started bouncing up and down and you couldn't tell how fast you were going. Works for me every time. By saying it JUST started doing that indicates that you were not previously aware of the speedometer malfunction. Most likely you will get off with a warning and he will tell you to get it fixed.
