Ignorance is not a sin, it's a challenge. God would likely enjoy a conversation with a skeptic, more than he would enjoy hearing his choir, forever, and ever, over, and over...
Jacob wrestled an Angel, and would not let him go, until he got an answer.
I will leave you with a lyric; Sometimes I look at you, and don't understand. How did you let these things, get so out of hand. Who do you think you are, a superstar?
JC Superstar...

If an atheist questions God, how is he really an atheist?
No, it is not ignorant to question God. After all, He's the Guy with all the Answers.

No one should question God. But we are all ignorant to something. I think that an atheist at least asking questions about God is a step in the right direction.

An atheist cannot question God, because atheists do not believe in God. If someone is questioning God, they aren't an atheist yet. Atheists have the answer; it's "no."

From the time man was created, there have always been two distinct societies: the ignorant society and the community of believers. All those who fail to observe the limits set by the religion, constitute the ignorant society. Despite discrepancies in beliefs, thoughts and ways of living, one fundamental rationale lays the groundwork for the life of all ignorant societies: not to adhere to true religion. The members of the ignorant society, merely limited strictly in their outlook to the worldly life, are defined in the following verse:
Those who entertain no hope of meeting Us, but desire the life of the world and feel secure therein, and those who are neglectful of Our revelations. (Surah Yunus: 7)
Those who love too well this fleeting life, and put behind them (the remembrance of) a grievous day.
Surah Al-Insan: 27
It is not in any way wrong to enjoy the favours of this world. Allah created these favours and gave them to the service of mankind. However, members of the ignorant society fall into an error at this point: they never take satisfaction in what they possess and always want to have more. In the words of the Qur’an, they are deceived by this world. What is more important, they never feel grateful to their Creator, the only One who bestows these favours upon them.
This is exactly why throughout history, regardless of the differences in their lifestyles, prosperity, races,
colours and languages, all ignorant societies have displayed an astonishing similarity in terms of their fundamental reasoning and mentality.

what are his motives? Does he do it to get an ego rush by putting others down? Why does he have such doubts about his own beliefs he feels the need to argue? Is his low self esteem the result of an abusive religious upbringing. If it is then His questions should be. Why is he still so angry? Why does he base his actions on resentment and anger? Maybe he needs some sort of guide to help him forgive, it seems to be using up energy that can be devoted to more logical pursuits.

everyone questions God at some point in their life. If you have a prob, read the Bible for yourself. All the answers are there. Praying helps to. If you question God obviously you believe someone is out there. Pray and ask Him the question.

You can respectfully ask anything of God though Jesus. Bearing in mind the presence of his holiness. Just remember the answer may come from an unexpected source. Jehovah has always used natural things to answer people and to work his wonders.
You may miss his answer if you expect it to be verbal.
