I suppose there would be nothing wrong with it provided that the son had a child himself, making the son a father also. Otherwise, just stick to the traditional birthday or a surprise day gift to the son as a special treat.

If the son is also a father, sure. If not, the father could express that he feels his greatest gift IS his son - and take the young man out to dinner.

A father can always give gifts to his son or daughter. It is also desirable that they give gifts on Father's day.

Etiquette wise? Only if he's a Father as well. Such as a "new dad" or first Father's Day gift or something like that.

But, if he's not, and you want to do something special? Well, just a heart to heart with a hug and the words, " I am SO GLAD, that YOU, are MY son! You make EVERYDAY Father's Day!"

Sure. Without the son would you be a father? Celebrate the day together. I really think that is a great ideal. I wish my husband would think like that.

My mum gave me a card on mother's day that she signed on behalf of my son cause he was too little to know about mum's day. If the son was a dad himself, that would be nice. But otherwise, why not? it's nice to give gifts at anytime. Not enough dads get along well with their sons.
