I'm going to be purchasing a new vehicle but not too sure what to get this time. Looking at
Mazda3 sport
Chev Optra
Chev Cobalt
Nissan Sentra SE-R
Safety Specifications--front & side impact/curtain air bags
4 wheel ABS
I've only ever been a Chev owner but family are into foreign cars

I would suggest in this order for the following reasons:

1. Mazada 3...Model has been around awhile and very good reliability

2. Nissian Sentra SER...I would have made this my first choice, because it is a hot little runner, but just last week, I read there was a very big recall. Now, Nissian is a very good company, but I would check out what the recall was all about before I buy.

3. Chevy Cobalt....New model, has had some nice things said about it. And that other post was right, GM wants to move some cars, so you should get a good deal.

Honestly I TRY AND TRY to support our American Manufactors but year after year the foreign car companies dominate the market with supperiors cars and QUALITY. Especially the Japs, Honda, Toyota even Mitsubishi now. I LOVE our country but for 20 to 30 thousand dollars Ive got to go where the best product is.

I too am shopping for a new car and I think I could write a book on the industry right now. From what I see you need to wait until fall 2007 - 2008, lots of new and exciting stuff coming out. ALSO BETTER MPG on the way!!!!

GOOD LUCK

no mistake to get the Mazda 3, I think its the best of your choices. Keep your hands off the Optra, it is Korean made and just wears the Chevrolet badge. Mazda will hold the value best, also Nissan. Did you consider Corolla? Reliable, safe, good resale value.

Cobalt is upposed to be a nice little car, due to gm's problems you can probley get one at a bargain if you dicker, they get most desperate to move them in the winter.
