why don't you search labradoodle and see what you get?

I've come across several and they all seem to be bright and have good temperaments.

The UK Guide Dogs For the Blind started to breed Labradoodles as they are believed to be suitable for their purposes - which speaks for itself.

The Labradors have proven working ability and the Poodle is an extremely intelligent, easy to train breed. I can't see any problem apart from their appearance which has not yet settled into a particular type as they are such a new 'breed'.

However I think their temperament and trainability is far more important.

All the feedback I've heard about Labradoodles is positive. They apparently have an excellent temperament, they have the temperament of a Labrador which is all good really cause they're such a placid breed of dog

If you can handle dobermans, you'll probably be ok!
They are a first cross between a labrador and a poodle, developed by Guide Dogs (Seeing Eye dogs) as being trainable and suitable for most people allergic to dog hair. They don't shed.

FINALLY a person smart enough to ask about a breed before they buy one... So many people are getting hooked on the designer names and finding out the dogs they have are a problem.

Poodles can be nasty snappers, and Labs are nice, so you have a 50/50 shot in the dark.

Not my kind of odds for me to bring home to my children.

If you are used to working Dobes the Ladradoodle will be a breeze for you.
They are much more willing to please and do what you wnat than a Dobe. They are more of a service type dog and more tuned into doing things that the person wants. They do not think as independantly as a Dobe.

I have known labradoodles and dobemans. I find them both to be sweet and intelligent.
