Counseling helps. Also meds if needed. Having a friend that just listens is priceless. It is an individual process so there are no time limits. Talking from personal experience it has taken me over a year and a half to get where am at and I am still taking meds, stopped the counseling 'cause I couldn't afford it, but have wonderful friends (online & offline) that have helped me tremendously. Yes I still get mad, yes I still get sad, and yes I still cry but I feel 100% better than before... the first step for me was forgiving him... otherwise I would be stuck in pain and desire for revenge... instead I forgave and I prayed.

Be there for your friend is most imortant. When he needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk to just let him do so.
You need to remind your freind life goes on. No reason to beat himself up mentally. She has moved on and he needs to too.
Go out and do things together, this will help him too, knowing he can till get out and have fun.
Life is to short to waste it getting depressed over someone of the opposite sex.
It is time to enjoy life and search for the special someone who truly will love him and respect, She is out there and will come his way when he least expects it.

There really is nothing you can do, time will be the best thing for him... I think break-ups are something everyone processes in their own way. Let him you know you are thinking of him and you'll be there if he does what to talk. In the meantime I'd try to distract him, its not good feeling blue and having time to think about it!
