OK its nine times but don't you think this is the wrong time to ask this question?

I'm glad they haven't qualified recently, it allows me to get on with watching the football without being distracted by vain hopes of getting into the quarter finals or further and then having them dashed by the clowns in blue, again and again.

Zaire, Peru, Costa Rica et al. Enough is enough, Scottish football is dead and we should let the dead rest in peace.

Nine. 1950,1954, 1958, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990,1998. They have actually only played in 8 tournaments tho. In 1950, they did qualify when they came second behind England in the qualifying group (which was the British Championship). They had previously declared however that they would only go to the finals as champions and held to their word. Silly! They have never got beyond the first round in the 8 finals they've contested.

They have qualified for 9 World Cup tournaments (including 1950 when they qualified but withdrew), but have never made it past the 1st round. Their most recent World Cup was 1998 when they finished last.
