The Tax Component has various stages of levy.,
the first stage of levy is in the form of import duty.,ie., duty on import of crudeoil only incase of imported crude oils.
Incase of indegenous crude oil excise duty is applicable when the product is subjected to refining. The refined petroleum is sold attracts Sales Tax or VAT in the jurisdiction of the state or the union Govt. taxation whichever is applicable.
The inported Crude oil is taxed on import in the form of import duty and further taxed on the refining charges and later when reaches the consumer it includes Sales tax and all the statutory taxes put together.
