What is the differences between CD-RW drive and DVD-RW drive?

besides the capacity of storage, will the quality of DVD-RW be better than the CD-RW if i intend to burn a movie?

CD-RW writes only CDRoms with max capapcity of 700mb, while DVD-RW writes DVD disks up to 4.7gb and up to 8bg on Double-Layered DVD disks.

4.7gb DVD blanks are more common. Commercial studios publish their movies to 8gb DVD disks. They usually have more than sufficient space to throw in extras like interviews, making of the movies and so on.

When you want to legally backup your copy of DVD movies you have to shrink the movies from 8gb down to 4.7gb to fit. VCD and SVCD format of up to 1150bps may be burned to multiple CDRoms, while DVD have a higher cinematic quality of anything from 5000bps to 9000bps and need only 1 disk to contain a whole movie.

Burning Movies to DVD quality is the only way to go these days.

Now the latest technology is Blu-Ray disc with capacity of up to 20gb. Wouldn't be available for a while though.

CD RW can write a CD with max space of 700 MB while a DVD RW can write a DVD which can have a max space of 4GB

CD-RW is just for copying cd's, Dvd-Rw will copy dvd's and cd's and yes the quality will be better with mure space on a dvd

first u have to know the different between CD and DVD the CD contain just one layer and the DVD contains many layers so it is bigger than CD, and so it need a special drive to burn the cd so it can write in many layers. and the only different just in size not in guality and the DVD-RW is slower than CD-RW.

I think a DVD drive will also burn Cd but a Cd drive want burn nothing but CDs

Exactly what the name implies. CD-RW means you can burn cd's, and DVD-RW means you can burn dvd's.
