I live a few 100 miles from the central east coast and I want to take a road trip when I get back to the states in Oct./Nov. What's a good place to go with fun things to do and friendly people?

Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah Valley.
Head south and catch the end of beach season.
The east coast is fairly long and while we don't need your street address, "a few hundred miles from the central east coast" could have you anywhere from South Carolina to New Jersey.

Main Street Bar and Grill, Medford, Wisconsin, on any Friday night. Put quarters (three) on the pool table and mention Yahoo Answers and anyone there will point me out. We'll have a great time.... Even if we're just talking about our travels, pool, or Yahoo Answers.
Oh, I almost forgot, show up after midnight. I'm never there until after midnight.
