You're not allowed to own a gun over there in London. Not even the cops carry guns.

Even so, a knife is a much better weapon for self defense and crime. If someone is seriously scared for their life, whether or not they are actually in danger of being killed, they have to be in arm's reach to stab someone. With guns, people get scared and just start shooting away and kill thousands of innocent people a year. And without guns, criminals can't just go crazy in a McDonald's or shoot people miles away with a sniper. They have to get right to the person, which is easier to avoid. The criminal can also be caught easier because he's right there amongst any witnesses.

It's the same in Birmingham, I've heard of 4 this week. The course could be due to the number of people coming into the country, this is only a small island but it's overcrowded and unemployment is high; people are just getting pi**ed off and venting their anger on others.

I'm scared to leave the house alone now, no one should feel unsafe in the area they grew up in and have lived all their lives, but sadly they do.

It is not turning into a frenzy these things probably happen on a regular basis. The police's knife amnesty scheme is just making the news people publicise it more

I have seriously believed for sometime now - that there is little structure or on offer for children once they transfer to secondary school. With the Olympics coming up - multisports complexs should be built within reach of each town so that the youngsters can get rid of their energy, meet and gain confidence. At present they hang around until they are old enough to go to the pub to socialise. Community spirit in the UK has dissipated.

Knife crime is not rising , it's all media hype!
The reason for any rise in street crime is the lack of police 'foot patrols'
That's easy enough to work out isn't it??
I'm not asking for a few million 'research fee' for that conclusion, every one knows if they stab someone or committed any street crime it will take the police a couple of days to start investigations.
If a couple of police were seen walking about the street, then fewer street crimes would be committed.
Not really 'Rocket science' is it??

its easy to hide a knife, the victim wont see it coming. its true theres not that many police patrols but will dat make any difference? every other week some1 gets stabed or sumink, like its a killing spree. yes it has always been there but its getting worse. im not aware of this because of the media it because of all the police tape up and big yellow boards saying MURDER.

Because of the poor justice system, even when in prison there is nothing to teach these yobs anything, all they get is a colour TV, DVDs PlayStation's, and that's why a lot of the youngsters say, and mean it that they will return because it's so good in jail.
