First of all, THERE IS A WHITE HISTORY!!! it's called Irish history, german, history, French history, Italian history and so forth...... Black history is not a threat to white history. All black history is about how black coped with America and the inventions and stuff. The reason why there will never be a white history is because it's everyday history. everyday you learn about the pilgrims, the scientists, the brits, the french, and blah, blah, blah. we call in black history because the only thing in common is the skin color. most of the people don't know what part of africa THEY CAME FROM! also, white people were never opposed AS SEVERE AS US. gay pride, black pride, asian pride, and latino pride was all opposed by the majority of white people. besides, it would be nice to learn about another culture that influenced the world. Black history is not a special privilege or racist. What's racist is that "so called American textbooks" exclude this history out or write ONE paragraph on it.

I am a white person, and I absolutely don't think there should be a white history month. The reason we have a Black History Month is because african-americans were (and still are) discriminated against for SO long by white people. I am ashamed of all the people that answered this question with anything but complete understanding. So many people are just ignorant about their heritage. Open up a book people!

Someday we arent going to be the majority anymore. We will need to have a special pride month. Right now everyday is White Day and most TV stations are the White Television Network. Is that going to be that way forever? I dont think so, so take a long view. Your'e right though, the people today who are complaining about Black History month probably are racist to some degree. I knew a guy who said things like that and he had a real anger problem. He also thought the gays were taking over Hollywood and TV. Some people just have Issues. The best thing to do is just ignore them. Most of us dont agree with the things that they say.

Check out a book called "lies my teacher told me". You can find it on audio. I actually borrowed it from the library on cd. It is an excellent book; a study about how the history textbooks used in high schools are wrong. They are usually a glossy, pretty look at American History. True history is usually anything but pretty. It is a very interesting book.
They leave out a lot more than how some blacks shaped america. I don't think it is because they are racists though. It is because they try to make the people in history out to be heros when in reality they were real people. People that make mistakes; people that aren't always good.

What a twist of fate, I am doing a piece of writing on "Why Can't We Have a White History Month" as this subject has resurfaced among a few entities within the Defense area and received a tight quantity of visibility within the Equal Opportunity international. I suppose that there are a few well facets which have been introduced out right here. Does any person brain if I use a couple of excerpts from their statements? I might additionally like to invite, how do you consider the including of this month might develop racial tensions, what does that seem love to you? Also, aid me to realize your announcement approximately being ungrateful. Thank you.

I am so tired of Blacks saying they were so oppressed.
If you want to know who was oppressed it was and still is the American Indians. They were enslaved just like the Blacks and treated worse. But you don't see them whining about it.
Slavery was along time ago no one alive from back then so get over it and move on.
Just about every race has been enslaved by another at some point in history.
I do agree there should not be white history, but I also think there should not be black history either. There should be American history Irish history English history and so on.

Although I am both races...black and white...I totally agree with you. Black History Month is February (for those of you who don't know...tsk, tsk), which happens to be the shortest month out of the year, btw. And white history is celebrated in every other way:
St. Patrick's Day
Thanksgiving Day
President's Day
Washington's Birthday
Columbus Day
...just to name a few days. And everyone knows about these days because they are pounded into our heads in school since kindergarden, but very few people outside the black race know when black history month is because it hasn't been given the same importance as everything else even though black people invented some of the most used items today...traffic lights, ironing boards, electrical resistors, bank safety deposit boxes, blood banks, Super Soakers (yep), refrigerated trucks, gas masks, peanut butter, chili sauce, ink, instant coffee, linoleum, mayonnaise, paper, plastic, pavement, shaving cream (the list goes on, my friends). White history is celebrated in all the textbooks so there doesn't need to be a white history month. That's like asking since there is a BET (Black Entertainment Television) channel, shouldn't there be a white entertainment channel...Doy, that is every other channel! Ok, coz Black history is widely celebrated excluding the whites. It's the one thing that they feel that they're not part of the celebration; the one celebration that they cannot be the center of.
And yeah the person who asked for it is pretty silly.

P.S. Im neither black nor white.

Because some white people like to be the center of attention at all times. Forget the fact that they already have 11 whole months of white history.

You are correct!

I wish we didn't have a NEED for Black History Month. If our White forefathers had been fair, decent and just... followed by these racist morons that they've fathered... all races could share the same history!
