Taking creatine alone will not increase your muscle mass persay. Initially when you take creatine it is absorbed into your cells, and along with it water follows. This causes your muscles to temporarily get larger due to increased intracellular fluid. That's why it is important to drink plenty of water with creatine, or you can become dehydrated.

Creatine is thought to work by giving your cells an extra (very small) boost of energy when you are doing short-duration high intensity exercises like weightlifting. This allows you to do more repetitions, building more muscle mass in the end.

The problem with creatine is that it is converted by the body to creatinine. Creatinine is possibly toxic to the body, especially to the kidney. Normally the kidneys excrete a set amount of creatinine from the body everyday. By taking in more creatine, you'll have higher levels of creatinine. It has not yet been proven if this is bad for your health.

Your liver does not produce creatine. Cells, especially muscle cells, produce creatine. Increased creatine levels will translate to increased creatinine levels. Creatinine levels are measured by doctors as a marker for kidney function or muscle breakdown.

Becareful what others tell you... not everyone has a proper medical education.

creatine will mess up your liver functions since the liver produces it.it wont add mass but may have an adverse affect on your liver.also when getting a blood test. taking it will also bring up your creatine and too much of it is unhealthy.do the pushups and situps but you can decrease the sets. your doing nothing to help build muscle. your actually breaking down what you have built up.i advise you to do one set of each every other day.if your doing these any sets you are not giving the neccessary time for the muscles to rest and bulk up.by doing this mant you are tearing down what you have built up
