Hi,

Crank sensor. i have a 1987 pontiac V6 that did the same thing in downtown Pittsburgh right in the middle of the road. It would crank but not fire. I replaced plugs, wires, ignition module, coils all in the attempt to chase it down. It was the 15.00 crank sensor

Check your fuses and spark plug wires. If they are all good it is probably your ignition module. If the car starts up again after it cools off but shuts down after it warms up it is the coil. Hope I have been helpful

Check the battery, oil, coolant levels. Most probably the battery is dead. Hot wire it & see if she sparks into life. Also check for overheating which makes a sensor go kaput on the dashboard.

If it turns but will not fire it is not a battery fault, more like an ignition or a fuel problem

took me 500 buck later to find my similar problem: Replace the Battery....it could have a low charge and enuff to start the car but not enuff to keep it running since once started it does not go to the alternator to keep it running....there is a delay....once the battery is charged the alternator may shut off temporarily. so you may have a week cell in the battery.

did you check the timing?if the timing chain went or broke it would not start.your coil could be bad?you should check to see if it is getting any spark.if it is getting spark then it is most likely the timing chain
